For the second year running, Alpine Cols was present at the Prudential RideLondon exhibition in London’s ExCel Centre, from July 29th to Aug 1st. Our team of four handed out over 2000 flyers, spoke to hundreds of people and collected pages of contact details from interested riders.
Since then we have followed up with many of them and expect to see substantial growth for next year.
People responded particularly well to our key selling point: the excellence of our coaching team. This was felt to be particularly important in the mountains. As Paul Robson, the deputy editor of Cycling Plus (and a recent participant in one of our training camps) recently remarked. you can go and ride in the Alps with your mates anytime, but will you actually learn anything?
During an Alpine Cols training camp there is a constant focus on performance, including all aspects such as climbing, pacing, nutrition, recovery and of course descending. Our focus on descending clinics during our training camps was particularly appreciated. Most of the accidents in the mountains take place while descending, and there is really no way to learn how to manage long, steep descents without going to the high mountains. The eye of an experienced coach then enables you to make more progress in a day than you could otherwise make in a week.
